Q 95) What does the Holy Spirit do?

1. The Spirit Speaks
The Holy Spirit speaks to us everyday.
The Spirit told Philip, "Go to that chariot and stay near it."Acts 13:2While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." Acts 10:19 9While Peter was still thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Simon, three[a] men are looking for you. 20So get up and go downstairs. Do not hesitate to go with them, for I have sent them."

2. Spirit of Truth & Guidance:

The Holy Spirit guides into all truth and reveals the future.
John 16:13 "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.

3. The Holy Spirit Helps us in our weakness & intercedes for us
Romans 8:26 - In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.

4. The Holy Spirit teaches and remind us
John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.

5. The Holy Spirit Leads us in our walk with God.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Romans 8:14Galatians 5:25--"If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit."Galatians 5:18--"If you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law." Romans 8:14

6. Spirit of Adoption
We are not orphans without a family. The Holy Spirit gives us a lineage in Christ.

Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

7. The Holy Spirit can be grieved
Draw near to Him and He will draw near to us. The Holy Spirit will never leave us, but He can be grieved by our actions.
Ephesians 4:30 30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
